My name is Nataly Tormey, founder of The Parentmedic Movement. I am so excited about our partnership with Hurstville Maternity. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I am a Registered Nurse, a mother to two daughters and my passion was that every single parent is able to learn how to care for their child if they are sick or unwell, or in an emergency. There is power in information sharing, and our online program is just one small building block in empowering parents in our community.

We have over 60 Licensed Parentmedic Providers who come from a range of backgrounds including doctorsnurses, maternal child health, parent educators and more!

Collectively we work really hard to provide up to date information based on current recommendations. You can also learn more at www.parentmedic.co . Check out 👉🏼Parentmedic TV, free LIVE events and in-person private and public training.

IF you find your child still, not moving and appears to not be breathing follow these steps. DRSABCD is a series of steps aimed to help you in an emergency. They are not a strict series of rules you must follow, they are recommended steps. The goal is to use it as a learning and prompting tool.

Dehydration occurs when our bodies do not have enough fluid to keep them working properly. Many people are surprised to learn that dehydration can be life threatening.

Because infants and young children have a higher metabolic rate and may not be able to verbalise that they are thirsty, they have an increased risk of dehydration.

Knowing what to look for when your baby has a temperature will help you to identify an emergency and, knowing baby and child first aid when your baby has a fever, will give you the confidence to know how to help when they need you.

Rashes affect the colour, appearance and texture of our skin.

Rashes are very common in babies and young children and in most cases are not serious and will go away on their own. In some cases, however, a skin rash is associated with serious illness.

Babies are especially susceptible to skin rashes because their skin is so sensitive.

Choking occurs when the airway has an obstruction. You can have either a partial obstruction or full obstruction. Signs of choking include coughing, gagging, grasping throat or change in colour.

Medinet is an online technology platform that will connect you to a GP in your home.

  • Consult with Australian qualified doctors 24/7
  • Access prescriptions and have medication delivered to your door
  • Access specialist referrals and upfront information about specialists' fees and waitlists
  • Access medical certificates and email them direct to your employer

Prepare your family for an emergency. Calling for help during an emergency, unfortunately, is not an uncommon thing. Most of the time it is parents doing what they need to do, recognising those red flags and calling in the professionals for some help. It is scary, most parents are fearful of calling. So before we do go through the steps of what to do in an emergency, I wanted to give you story from a dear friend, who is a Paramedic.

The Parentmedic Triage tool was built because parents who attended our education sessions said whilst they love the knowledge they received during our course, they wanted more support in making decisions for their child. We found that parents were reaching out to our educators for non-emergency support, seeking guidance or confirmation that how they planned on getting help was right at the time.
